Saturday may have dawned sunny but the previous two days’ rain was enough to wash out the Readers Lincolnshire ECB Premier League matches at Louth and Caistor.
However, the remaining four produced several changes in the table, Market Deeping dropping four places, Woodhall Spa moving up two and Lindum continuing their meteoric rise to claim fourth place.
Woodhall and Bourne fought out the highest scoring encounter with Andrew Crook now just 52 runs short of 1,000 for the season after he made 127 at Abbey Lawn. This helped the visitors to 284 for seven but Tom Lindley’s 57 and Will Clough with 60 enabled Bourne to claim a share of the points as they ended on 228 for five.
This moved Woodhall up to seventh at the expense of Nettleham who dropped to eighth after going down at Lindum whose win took them above Bourne. Pierce Morley-Barnes made his maiden Premier League century for the Lincoln side, ending unbeaten on 108 as Lindum notched up 201 for three. Karanjit Bansal then took six for 59 as Nettleham were all out for 151.
Sleaford finally pulled away from 10th place, consigning Market Deeping to this position after an 80 run win at London Road. Deeping won the toss and, having been invited to bat, Sleaford made 217 for nine, Dammika Gunawadena hitting 53 and despite Jamie Morgan’s 65, Deeping lost their final wicket on 137.
Second placed Skegness were the visitors to Caistor and the loss of any play for the seasiders allowed leaders Bracebridge Heath to benefit from the 20 points they picked up at Messingham. Peter Morgan made 52 and Paul Cook 61 of Bracebridge’s 236 for eight and Tom Khoza took five for 27 to help bowl the home side out for 132.
Louth stay third despite no play being possible against Grimsby at London Road. Arran Brindle’s side will be hoping for better weather next week in preparation for their match against England Women on Friday.
